The sample contains fluorescent polymer particles having 2 μm in diameter. The top row (a–f) shows images sample volume directly imaged onto a CCD detector (see Fig. 6). Excitation signal in the form of 11×11 matrix of focal points is clearly visible. The bottom row (g–l) are images reconstructed from the fluorescence signal detected by a PMT (Fig. 6) behind the optical fibre.
