Schematic showing the contacts between yeast ScOMPDC and bound 6-hydroxyuridine 5′-monophosphate constructed using X-ray crystallographic data (PDB entry 1DQX). The phosphodianion binding motif consists of the side chains of Gln-215 and Tyr-217 in the mobile loop (loop 7), the side chain of Arg-235, and the backbone NHs of Gly-234 and Arg-235. The completely conserved “catalytic motif” (DxKxxD) consists of the side chains of Asp-91, Lys-93 and Asp-96′ of the second subunit.
