The amount of telomeric DNA in stn1-M1 and stn1-M1 ter1-Δ strains varies during passaging. Cells from three lineages each of the stn1-M1 (A) and stn1-M1 ter1-Δ (B) strains were passaged for 4 streaks on YPD plates. The total telomeric signal was measured on Southern blots from samples at each point. The samples were standardized using signal from two single-copy gene controls. The telomeric signal of the mutants is indicated as a ratio relative to the telomeric signal of a wild-type cell culture control. The error bars represent standard errors; n = 6 at each data point.
