Cell surface accumulation of CD44 is responsible for the stimulation of tumor cell adhesion under LRP-1 blockade. FTC-133 cells were transfected with nontargeting siRNA (siCTRL) or CD44-silencing sequences (siCD44) and treated or not with RAP (500 nM) for 1 h. Cell adhesion was then assayed for 30 min as described for Fig. 1. Results are expressed compared to those for nontreated control cells, which serve as a reference set to 1. Each value is the mean ± SD of at least three independent experiments, each performed in triplicate. *∗, P < 0.01.
