Skewness for attendance was .51 (SD =.18), and kurtosis was −.45 (SD =.36). Both values indicate that skewness and kurtosis are not problematic for this variable.
Because previous studies found a curvilinear relation between parent expectations and session attendance, a quadratic effect was tested in the covariate analyses. In addition, because the variable was heavily skewed, the square root transformation was used for analyses; the transformed variable had a mean of 2.0 (SD = 0.7) and a range of 1.0 to 4.7.
Because months in practice was heavily skewed, the square root transformation was used for analyses; the transformed variable had a mean of 4.7 (SD = 3.0) and a range of 0.0 to 17.3.
