Critical level of PAR-1 kinase activity is necessary for spine morphogenesis. a, hippocampal neurons were transfected with different Myc-tagged PAR-1b constructs at DIV5–6, fixed, and imaged at DIV17. GFP was coexpressed to visualize spine morphology. Overexpression of both the active and inactive PAR-1b constructs caused a reduction in spine density, suggesting that a critical level of the kinase activity is necessary for spine morphogenesis.
