T5.0002 spreads through subcutaneous tumors and is therapeutic in conjunction with 5-FC. U87 cells were implanted subcutaneously in nude mice with or without 2% of total cells infected with T5.0002, and tumor growth measured in the presence and absence of 5-FC administration: (a) 500 mg/kg/day 5-FC, T5.0006 (encoding GFP) and T5.0002 + PBS are the vector-only controls; (b) 200 mg/kg/day, T5.0004 + PBS is the vector only control; (c) 50 mg/kg /day 5-FC, T5.0007 + PBS is the vector only control.
