Outcomes of growing soybean in farm soil amended with nano-ZnO (Right) or nano-CeO2 (Left). With nano-ZnO, plants bioaccumulated Zn in the belowground and aboveground parts of the plant, with the highest concentrations in the leaves (indicated by the darkest shading). With nano-CeO2, MNMs did not translocate above ground, but rather bioaccumulated in the roots and root nodules, where, in the latter, symbiotic nitrogen fixation was decimated (not depicted).
