Viability of U937 and Jurkat T cells treated with compounds 1a and 1b. Cultured U937 and Jurkat T cells were exposed to different concentrations of compounds 1a and 1b as indicated in the figure. After a 24 h period of exposure, the viability of cells was measured as their ability to reduce a tetrazole compound to the corresponding purple formazan dye (MTT assay). Viability is directly proportional to the amount of formazan dye produced as measured by light absorbance at 570 nm. a: U937 cells, b: Jurkat T cells. Data are means ± SD of six independent experiments. * p < 0.05, *** p < 0.001 (1 way ANOVA, and Dunnett's Multiple Comparison Post Test, compared to Control).
