Note: Although generally assumed that overlapping error bars indicate nonsignificant differences, this is only true for between subject analyses. For within subject analyses, the 'error-bar' heuristic would only apply if the standard error of the difference scores were used in the bar graphs. Given that our bar graphs include both between and within subject comparisons, it is important to distinguish to which comparisons the error-bar heuristic applies.
