Variable morphology of mutant embryos. Wild-type (A, F, and K) or mutant (B–E, G–J, and L–O) embryos of self-pollinated heterozygous (+/emb8516) plants were observed in the confocal microscope at 9 (A–E), 16 (F–J), or 28 (K–O) days after pollination (DAP). The suspensor-like parts of the mutant embryos are always situated at the left side of the photographs. Scale bars = 100 μm.
