(A) persistence of two microcosms (M4 and M12) for >700 days. (B) persistence of V. cholerae in transfer (daughter) microcosms. Transfer microcosm (TM) was prepared by transferring one ml culture from original microcosm (M4, Figure 1A) to fresh FSLW (49-ml) at day 96. The microcosms were stored statically at room temperature. Data represent the persistence of three microcosms in excess of 600 days.
