A series of thin optical sections of 10 µm width (stack) of a thermolysin crystal taken in confocal fluorescence mode after the crystal was soaked in acridine orange dye. The frame size was 307 × 307 µm. The initial frame is the back-most part of the crystal. The sample mounting loop becomes visible in the middle frames and the front-most crystal edge is illuminated in the bottom row.
