COS-7 cells transiently expressing wild-type or mutant SR-BI and pre-labeled with [³H]-cholesterol were incubated with cholesterol oxidase (0.5 units/mL) for four hours. Lipids were extracted and radioactivity associated with cholestenone was assessed by thin layer chromatography. Combined data from four independent experiments, each performed in quadruplicate, are shown. *p<0.001, as determined by one-way ANOVA.
