Total production of urease proteins. (A) Lysates were obtained from wild-type and ΔarsS bacteria grown overnight on TSA plates supplemented with 5% sheep blood at pH 7.4. SDS-PAGE using 10 μg loaded protein and Western blot analysis were done, and densitometry was performed. There was a decrease in the total level of production of urease protein in the absence of the pH-sensing histidine kinase ArsS compared to wild-type bacteria (n = 3) (means ± standard errors of the means).
