Segregation of two copies of the transgene linked in cis (A) or trans (B). K1R and K2R indicate transgenic loci whereas K1S and K2S indicate absence of the transgene on the chromosome. [KR] and [KS] are the kanamycin-resistant and kanamycin-sensitive phenotypes, respectively. r - recombination frequency between the linked inserts. Gametes T0 are gametes produced by T0 transformed plants. When r ≥ 0.5, the two transgenes segregate independently while for r < 0.5 the two transgenes recombined with a frequency (r) equal to the distance separating the physically linked inserts.
