GWAS and gene expression studies indicate the potential disease involvement of the novel candidate genes in the predicted T1D network modules. (A) Cumulative distribution function of the T1D association p value from GWAS. Distribution of the novel candidates is shifted to the low-p-value end (p=0.063 and p=0.055 for those with network degree 2 or above). (B) Cumulative distribution function of the differential expression p value between the RO-LR and LRS cohorts. The distribution for the novel candidate genes shows significant (p=0.03) shift to the low end, indicating correlation with the T1D phenotype in cohorts with low-risk HLA genotypes.
