Pneumothorax management fit for high altitude transport. Closed (non-ventilated) air spaces expand with increasing altitude (= closed pneumothorax) and shrink during descent. Therefore patients with pneumothorax need a chest tube with one way valve which also prevents tension pneumothorax due to ambient pressure reduction during various altitude exposures (MATTHYS DRAIN®).
