Binding of RegIIIβ to S. typhimurium from the middle logarithmic or from the stationary growth phase.
A, bacteria were grown up to the middle logarithmic growth phase or the stationary growth phase (1.0 × 107 cfu) and incubated with RegIIIβ (10 μg) at 37 °C for 15 min (T, total fraction). The RegIIIβ bound or unbound to bacteria was separated by centrifugation (P, pellet; S, supernatant) and then analyzed by SDS-PAGE and CBB staining. B, quantified protein levels (%) of the pellet fractions were determined by defining the relative intensity of the total fraction as 100%. The error bars represent the S.D. of the mean from three independent experiments. **, p < 0.01; ns, not significant (unpaired Student's t test).
