Global analysis of the Lingulodinium assembly. (A) Gene ontology of annotated sequences in the transcriptome shows a decreased level of DNA-binding proteins and an increased level of substrate-specific membrane transporters compared with the ciliate Paramecium, the diatom Thalassiosira, and the green alga Chlamydomonas. (B) The number of protein family DNA-binding domains detected in Lingulodinium compared with those detected in Paramecium, Thalassiosira, and Chlamydomonas. DNA- binding domains not present in Lingulodinium (CCAAT, E2F, GATA, Helix-hairpin-helix, Helix–loop–helix, CBF, KN, HSF, Sigma-70, TAZ, CXC, and WRKY) are not included.
