The 13C CPMAS NMR spectra show the preferential removal of amorphous carbohydrates (63 and 84 ppm) relative to crystalline cellulose (66 and 89 ppm) and accumulation of aromatic lignin structures (110–160 ppm) and a changed pattern of the respective region indicating lignin modification after brown-rot of Colorado blue spruce wood caused by P. placenta.
