Representative stress-strain curve for the wall of the carotid artery. The tangent elastic moduli Ediastole and Esystole were calculated as the slopes of the curve at end-diastole and peak-systole respectively. Increase in the stress-strain curve slope clearly indicates the stress-induced stiffening of the arterial wall from end-diastole to peak-systole.
