(A) The mid-log phase culture of 2 gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus saprophyticus, and Enterococcus faecalis) and 2 gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) cultured in voluntary urine from 3 male and 3 female human volunteers were treated with the NaOH-SDS solution for 5 min. The numbers of bacteria that were measured by the UF-1000i were converted into percentages that were relative to the control that was treated with an equal volume of PBS. Each column represents the average of 6 (Total) or 3 (Female and Male) independent urine cultures and each error bar shows the standard deviation.
