⁴⁵Ca²⁺ influx in E. densa leaves (A) and changes in external Ca²⁺ concentration (B) induced by 0.2 mm NEM. The ⁴⁵Ca²⁺ uptake was determined after 30 and 90 min of incubation, as described in Methods. Changes in external Ca²⁺ concentration were measured in the medium with a Ca²⁺-selective electrode after 90 min of incubation. Samples were incubated under the same conditions described for the influx, except for the absence of ⁴⁵Ca²⁺. The data represent the means of two experiments run in triplicate. se did not exceed ±10%.
