Light loss comparison among crystals as a function of different geometry (cross-sectional area vs length) and surface finishes. Crystals with 0.5 µm and saw cut finishes were prepared by the manufacturer (solid dots and diamonds), while the remainders were prepared at our lab with lapping films. Note the tight grouping of all crystals prepared through lapping film regardless of surface roughness.
