Endothelial cells were isolated and cultured as described in Materials and Methods section. Primary endothelial cells were treated with the indicated concentration of pentamidine for 24 h. Caspase 3/7 activity was detected by the Caspase-Glo® 3/7 assay system and the cell proliferation rate was detected by WST-1 assay. It should be noted that the caspase 3/7 activity of the untreated control cells was set as 1 and the cell proliferation rate of the untreated cells was normalized as 100%.
