The (onset) data are taken from Fig. 4 of Chan and Titze.6 The error bars (±10 Pa) are added to the data to consider the accuracy of the pressure resolution of the water manometer used by Chan and Titze. Results (not shown) identical to the dashed curves are obtained from the elastic shear moduli and damping parameters listed in Table TABLE I. of Sec. 4. The solid straight lines were obtained with the elastic shear moduli and the depths of the oscillating mass listed in Table TABLE III. under the assumption of identical spring constants k₁ and k₂.
