This table shows a cross-tabulation of the alcohol use problem severity groups with demographic characteristics and three problem behavior variables. Ns (%) are reported for each variable; for age means (standard deviations) are reported. Chi-square or two-sided Fisher’s exact tests (when expected cell frequencies were <5) were used to compare each alcohol group on their percentage of problem behavior or gender endorsement. For age, two-sample t-tests for unpaired data were conducted (assuming equal or unequal variances where appropriate). Categories that share superscripts refer to comparisons that are not statistically different, such as categories one (0.8%a) and two (1.8%ab) for lifetime marijuana use. Categories with different superscripts refer to statistically significant differences at p < 0.05, such as categories one (0.8%a) and three (4.3%b) for lifetime marijuana use.
