(A) Levels of activated AMPK were increased in the HCD-R group as compared to the control and HCD groups after four weeks of ischemia and seven weeks of diet modification (*p= 0.02). (B) Carnitine palmitoyltransferase I (CPT1), a protein involved in fatty acid oxidation and under control of AMPK, was upregulated in the HCD-R group (†p= 0.002). (C) There was no difference in the expression of GLUT-1 between the groups (p= 0.9). (D) MEF2, an upstream regulator of GLUT-1 and -4 expression was not different between the groups (p= 0.3).
