wapl transcripts, mutations and proteins. (A) Top black line is wapl DNA. Large and small wapl transcripts are produced from independent transcription start sites (arrows). The two transcripts encoding Wapl-L and Wapl-S are shown. Exons are thick lines (gray, non-coding; black, coding). Introns are dotted lines. Locations of the wapl2 and waplAG mutations are shown. Sequencing of wapl2 mutants identified an insertion of 970 bases from the Egf gene normally found on chromosome 2R. The waplAG mutation consists of a single nucleotide change of C to T at position 1583 of the cDNA sequence. The antigens used to generate the two antibodies and the predicted sizes of the three Wapl proteins discussed in this paper are also shown.
