Effects of STAT5b blockade in an orthotopic tumor model. (A) Orthotopic implantation of HPAF-II pancreatic cancer cells into the pancreatic tail of nude mice results in inhibition of tumor growth after 31 days, as determined by final tumor weight (*P < .05). (B) STAT5b knockdown was persistent after 31 days (Western blot analysis). (C) Blockade of transcription factor STAT5b leads to a significant reduction in tumor cell proliferation (BrdU incorporation; *P < .05).
