(b) The specialized gradient-recalled echo (GRE) magnetic resonance imaging pulse sequence used for data acquisition. In addition to the standard radio frequency (RF) pulses and orthogonal magnetic-field gradient orientations (SS, slice select; RO, readout; PE, phase encode) required to create the GRE MR image, a trapezoidal motion-encoding gradient is included.
