Effects of increasing levels of exercise in the supine and in the sitting position on mean ± SD (vertical bars) pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR, Wood units or mmHg.L−1) in healthy volunteers. Initial PVR was higher in the sitting position, but otherwise PVR decreased slightly with increasing levels of workload, and this was similar in the supine and in the sitting positions.
