(A and B) IL-6 and CRP plasma levels were increased in blood from the morbidly obese group compared with the undetectable amounts observed in healthy lean controls (p<0.01). There were not significant differences in the levels of these markers between high insulin resistance and diabetic groups. (C, D, E and F) There was a great increase of proinflammatory cytokines mRNA expression (TNFα, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-10) in VAT of MO patients compared with controls (p<0.01). Of note, elevated levels of TNFα, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-10 mRNA in MO with high insulin resistance degree were not statistically different from the levels found in T2D-MO. Significant differences (Duncan; p<0.05) are indicated with different words.
