Effects of AM6701 and AM6702 on cellular integrity in the excitotoxic slice model. From the Fig. 2 treatment groups, slice cultures were treated with vehicle AM6701 or AM6702 for 1 h, and subsequently during the 2-h kainic acid (KA) exposure, as per the described protocol. The slices were fixed 24-h post-insult, then sectioned and stained with cresyl violet. Photomicrographs of field CA1 are shown and pyknotic nuclei are especially evident in the KA + vehicle group.
