Bromodeoxyuridine binding cells emerged in the dentate gyrus of rats. (A) Brains were harvested at 1 week after seizure and then brain sections were immunohistochemically stained with BrdU. BrdU (+) cells were reduced by zinc chelation in the dentate gyrus at 1 week after seizure. BrdU (+) cells were significantly higher in seizure-induced rats than in the sham operated rats. Seizure-induced BrdU (+) cell production was reduced by CQ. Scale bar = 200 µm. (B) Bar graph represents BrdU-immunoreactive (+) cell number in the subgranular zone area (n = 8).
