EscP is a type III-secreted substrate and regulates EscI secretion. Analysis of EscP-HA (A) and EscI-HA (B) protein secretion and production is shown. Immunodetection of secreted proteins (S) and whole-cell-lysates (P) of WT and ΔescN and ΔescP mutant EPEC strains overproducing EscP-HA or EscI-HA, separated by SDS–15% PAGE, was performed using anti-HA, anti-EspB, anti-DnaK, and anti-EspC antibodies. The EspC protein is not secreted via the T3SS. Molecular masses of protein standards are indicated on the left of each panel.
