Steroid cotreatment affects the response of a subset of estrogen and androgen target genes in a dose-dependent manner. QPCR expression analysis in T47-D breast cancer cells treated for 16 h with vehicle (EtOH), 10 nm E₂, or 10 nm E₂ with 0.01–10 nm DHT. Data are presented as mean (±sem) expression from four biological replicates normalized to MRPL19 and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) with geNorm. FKBP5 and CTSD are presented as controls for treatment effects. DOCK10 and CD9 were identified from microarray analysis as DHT-responsive genes antagonized by E₂ treatment and PGR, RERG, and VTCN1 as E₂-responsive genes antagonized by DHT treatment. One-way ANOVA P values for dose-dependent steroid cotreatment effects are shown.
