Cells were cultivated in LB medium. IPTG and 10 g of glucose liter−1 were added after 9 and 12 h of cultivation, respectively. All strains harbored the pAPAC plasmid, which expresses the A. caviae phaC gene (32), as well as the pTrcFabH plasmid indicated in the table.
