sexual intercourse during previous 4 days
sexually active
antibiotic therapy during past 2 weeks
normal Pap smear obtained within previous 12 months
vaginal spotting
absence of symptoms of genital infection
pregnancy and puerperium
 
hormonal contraception
 
active malignant disease
 
fever in the previous 4 days
 
smoking
  lack of informed consent
