Cytochrome c oxidase activity in cortical mitochondria isolated from 6-, 12- and 24-month-old APP mice and age-matched non-transgenic WT mice. Significantly decreased H2O2 was found in the cerebral cortex of 12-month-old (P = 0.002) and 24-month-old (P = 0.001) APP mice, compared with the 12- and 24-month-old non-transgenic WT mice. Significantly reduced H2O2 was found in the 12-month-old (P = 0.04) and 24-month-old (P = 0.04) APP mice, compared with the 6-month-old APP mice.
