Osmotic gradient-driven changes in light scattering for POPC:POPG bilayers in the absence of protein or with AQP4-M1 at a P/L ratio of 0.0023. Data (red), with single-exponential fits (black dotted lines). For both systems the osmotic gradient was applied at time t = 0 and the traces were put on the same relative scale by normalizing the light scattering to go from 0 at time t = 0 to 1 when the scattering leveled off. The values of k were determined to be 15.5 s−1 for POPC:POPG liposomes and 120.5 s−1 for POPC:POPG proteoliposomes containing AQP4-M1.
