Apoptosis induced by IFNγ in HepG2 cells with excess β-catenin is caspase-dependent. HepG2 cells were transfected with plasmid expressing active β-catenin. The transfected cells were treated with or without IFNγ (100 ng/ml) in the presence or absence of the pancaspase inhibitor Z-VAD-FMK for 48 h. The levels of active caspase (A) 3, (B) 8 and (C) 9 were determined by flow cytometry. (D) Apoptosis was evaluated by TUNEL assay. ^*P<0.05 compared with corresponding untreated cells.
