Rapamycin pretreatment attenuates cocaine-induced place preference and blocks long-term locomotor sensitization. (a) Compared to vehicle-pretreated animals (n=10), 10 mg/kg rapamycin pretreatment (n=11) 1 hr prior to a post-conditioning test attenuated the expression of a cocaine-induced place-preference. (b) Compared to vehicle-pretreated animals (n=11) rapamycin pretreatment (n=12) 1 hr prior to a 15 mg/kg cocaine challenge injection conducted at 3 weeks withdrawal blocked sensitization of the locomotor-activating effects of cocaine.
