Gene expression demonstrates chondrogenic differentiation of MSCs in HA-interacting hydrogels. Sox-9, aggrecan, type II collagen, and type I collagen expression were analyzed for all hydrogel conditions. All expression levels were normalized to individual β-actin levels and observed expression for PEG scaffolds containing no HA at 4 days. HA-interacting hydrogels increased aggrecan production at 3 weeks and type II collagen production at 6 weeks.
