Effect of Aloe littoralis gel formulations on thermal burn wound. Thermal burn wound was induced by putting hot plates (200°C) with surface area of 1.5 cm² on animal back. After removal of necrotized tissues, vehicle (gel base), Aloe gel formulations (12.5 and 100%) and silver sulfadiazine cream (500 mg daily) were applied topically on burns in different groups. On 6th day and thereafter at intervals of 3 days, the burn area was measured and healing rate was calculated as follows: Percent of wound healing = [initial wound area – unhealed wound area / initial wound area] * 100. Data are mean ± S.E.M. of six rats per group. * P<0.05 compared to control group.
