Note the simple, tubular, mucus-secreting glands (Gl) which are invaded by lymphoid tissue, forming lymph nodules (Ln) and inter-nodular lymphoid tissue (Ilt). Glandular secretion (S) fills the tonsillar crypts (C). Connective tissue septa (Ct) surround the lymphoid tissue and distribute larger blood vessels (Bv).
