Table 2.
The effects of octadecanoic acid and octadecanoic acid-d35 on rhamnolipid yields at 96 h
Substrate | Rhamnolipid yielda (g/liter) | Molar carbon content yieldb (g/mol substrate carbon) |
---|---|---|
1.25% glucose alone | 1.0 ± 0.07 a | 2.4 |
1% glucose plus 0.25% octadecanoic acid | 2.1 ± 0.41 b | 4.3 |
1% glucose plus 0.25% octadecanoic acid-d35 | 2.6 ± 0.26 b | 5.5 |
Values reported are the means of triplicate flasks ± the SD of the mean. Significant treatment differences, indicated by different numbers of letters, were determined by one-way ANOVA using the Tukey-Kramer HSD test to compare means for experiments with different carbon sources (α = 0.05).
Molar carbon content yield is the (mass of rhamnolipid produced)/(moles of substrate carbon added).
