p53 and ATM are required for hydrogen peroxide-induced early lytic protein expression. AGS-Akata cells were knocked down for ATM or p53 expression using shRNA-expressing lentiviruses. Stable cell lines were treated with or without hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂, 300 μM), and Western blot analysis was performed to detect BMRF1 or Z lytic protein expression. Western blots were also probed for total p53 and p53 phosphorylated on Ser15. β-Actin was used as a loading control. DMSO, dimethyl sulfoxide.
