Effect of pH on Cd²⁺ microelectrode performance. The pH of five different 50 μm Cd(NO₃)₂ solutions were adjusted over a range spanning from pH 4.0 to 8.0, using a series of buffers consisting of 10 mm Homopipes and 10 mm Tris added in the appropriate proportions to achieve the desired pH. The electrical output of the electrode was measured and then referenced to a 0 level, as described in Figure 1.
